Bobby Genovese’s BG Vero Beach Polo Club hosted its inaugural “Pony Up” fundraiser on Saturday February 21 to benefit Special Equestrians of the Treasure Coast, provider of therapeutic horseback riding for children and adults affected by conditions affecting muscles and speech.
“To a child or adult with a physical, developmental or emotional disability, life looks a lot brighter on horseback,” said Program Director Volunteer Vicki Penley. “The power and warmth of a horse strengthens and tones muscles, improves balance, head control and coordination, builds patience and self-esteem, and offers a sense of freedom and equality.”
Since 1992, the Vero Beach 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization has provided therapeutic horseback riding for children and adults who are challenged by Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral palsy, Spina Bifida, Strokes, Diabetes, and other conditions affecting muscles and speech.
Saturday’s fundraising celebration featured authentic Argentine BBQ by Ocean Grill polo team members, a polo foot mallet competition and 50/50 Raffle for VIP BG Polo Tailgate experience, silent auction and music.
“We could not be more honored or humbled to support this amazing organization and the hundreds of adults and children they help through their selfless service and commitment,” said BG Vero Beach Polo Club and BG Capital Group Chairman Bobby Genovese. “Their work should be applauded and supported at every turn and we will do everything possible to make that happen. It is our good fortune to be their neighbor.”
Genovese’s BG Polo includes five polo and equestrian teaching and competition centers in Vero Beach, Ocala and Davie Florida, Toronto, Ontario, and Pilar, Argentina.
