With the upcoming Memorial Day weekend officially kicking off summer here in the US, there are many reasons to be optimistic and excited about the months ahead.
More than 131 million Americans and counting have been fully vaccinated, and the CDC tells us it’s a low risk for fully vaccinated people to travel in the US. As someone who loves embarking on new adventures and meeting new people, this is a welcome trend.
I know I’m not the only one feeling a little landlocked: according to TripIt, 97% of its users plan to take a vacation in 2021, with over half planning to fly domestically by June.
If you’re looking for a change of scenery, I highly encourage you to… change your scenery! One easy and beautiful way to do that is with a visit to South Florida.
Full disclosure: I’m a Canadian who fell in love with the Sunshine State many years ago. My ranch in Ocala is one of my favorite places on the planet. And in 2015, I invested further in the state’s future through a partnership with the Department of Environmental Protection that made BG Signature the official concessionaire of numerous state park locations in South Florida, the largest portfolio of its kind.
There are a million things you can do in Florida, but an amazing and accessible place to start is immersing yourself in our gorgeous state parks. And by “immersing yourself,” I mean full recreational mode — whether it’s exploring nature-filled trails on a mountain bike or gliding along pristine waterways on a paddleboard.
Equipment rentals, guided tours and everything else you need for a memorable day (or days!) are all awaiting you on the park grounds. As are some great spots to enjoy top-notch food, cocktails and even live music.
Whatever direction you choose to go, here’s to getting out and seeing the world beyond our apartments, houses and Zoom screens this summer. And if you do find yourself in South Florida, I hope to see you at one of our BG Signature-run parks.
Happy summer to one and all…
